As A Participant
We are always looking for volunteers to be in any of our ongoing projects. If you have an interest in volunteering as a participant in any of our studies, please reach out to our principal research scientist Kinsey Herrin!
You may be a good fit for our studies if
- Prosthesis Studies: You are an adult lower limb prosthesis user
- Hip & Ankle Exoskeleton Studies: You are an adult stroke survivor or an active able-bodied adult aged 65 years or older
- Older Adult Studies: You are an active or sedentary able-bodied adult aged 60 years old or older
- Pediatric Knee Exoskeleton Studies: You are an 8-25 year old and you have a walking impairment that impacts your knee
- Parkinson’s Studies: You are an adult diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease

Joining the lab
Please note: All EPIC Lab research requires in-person data collection. We do not offer virtual or remote research projects.
High School Students: We are not currently able to accept high school students. Please do not contact the lab regarding research opportunities.
Undergraduate Students (not at Georgia Tech): Several Georgia Tech summer research programs are open to undergraduate students from other institutions. Interested students should apply directly through one of the programs listed below.
- NSF Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE): NSF Website, Georgia Tech Website
Undergraduate Students (at Georgia Tech): We recruit undergraduate researchers who have been admitted to Georgia Tech through the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program. Students interested in joining the lab should email Ethan Park [epark312@gatech.edu] with the subject line “EPIC Lab VIP Application – [Your Full Name]”. Please attach your resume or CV to the email.
- Spring semester: Begin reviewing applications in late October, review through start of semester if positions are available
- Fall semester: Begin reviewing applications in late March, review through start of semester if positions are available
Master’s Students: You must be admitted to Georgia Tech before contacting the lab. Students interested in joining the lab should email Ethan Park [epark312@gatech.edu] with the subject line “EPIC Lab Master’s Research Inquiry – [Your Full Name]”. Please attach your resume or CV to the email. Students must complete at least one semester of non-thesis research in the lab before being considered for a master’s thesis.
PhD Students: You can reach out before being accepted to Georgia Tech. If you are interested, email Sofia Arvelo Rojas [s.arvelorojas@gatech.edu] with the subject line: “EPIC Lab PhD Inquiry – [Your Full Name]”. Please attach your resume or CV to the email.
Postdoctoral Students: We are not currently hiring for any specific postdoctoral positions, but we are always interested in hearing from strong candidates.
